Forest Wildfire Protection
This wildfire protection video explains why fires were intentionally lit in order to protect a Wisconsin forest and its inhabitants. After a huge windstorm tore apart nearly a half million acres of trees, it left the area vulnerable to a disastrous wildfire that could spread dangerously in hot, dry, windy conditions. Fires were intentionally lit under controlled conditions to burn off the vulnerable area and while it didn’t burn off everything as intended, fighting fire with fire was a step in the right direction.
