Climbing to Mt Everest Base CampMt Everest Base Camp

Enjoy this Mount Everest base camp trek video from the BBC. Follow an adventurous volunteer climbing to the base camp of Mount Everest under difficult walking conditions that require up to eight hours a day on foot. Weather conditions can change quickly and the air becomes harder to breathe as the altitude increases. Altitude sickness is often a problem with common signs being headaches, dizziness and loss of appetite. Sherpas help by carrying the heavy packs and after a grueling eight days of trekking it’s all been worth it as they arrive at base camp where they enjoy the spectacular views and celebrate their impressive achievement. The summit of Mount Everest stands at an amazing 8,848 meters (29,029 ft) above sea level while base camp is at 5,380 m (17,700 ft). Want to learn more?
